Day 4 – Organic Farms & Danube
Wednesday, 2nd September 2026
Experience sustainable agriculture at OPG Zorić, visit the Marian pilgrimage site of Aljmaš on the Danube, and discover the world’s largest wooden wine barrel at Erdut Winery.
OPG Zorić is an exemplary organic family farm that combines large-scale sustainable agriculture with refined craft production. Cultivating around 160 hectares of organic durum wheat, rapeseed, soy, sunflower, and maize for human consumption, the farm relies on state-of-the-art technology to improve both yield and quality, supported by significant EU funding investments.
In 2019, the family launched Destilerija Zorić, where tradition meets innovation: premium fruit brandies and liqueurs are produced under the Divania brand.
The Church of Our Lady of Aljmaš is one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in eastern Croatia, overlooking the confluence of the Drava and the Danube. Deeply rooted in local devotion and history, the church is a place of quiet reflection and spiritual significance.
Surrounding Aljmaš, gentle vineyard-covered hills stretch towards the Danube, forming a landscape shaped by centuries of winemaking tradition.
The Erdut vineyards stretch along the high banks of the Danube around the village of Erdut, where a unique combination of river climate, loess soils, and long sun-exposed slopes creates ideal conditions for viticulture, particularly for Graševina.
Erdut is especially renowned for housing the world’s largest wooden wine barrel in use, with a capacity of around 75,000 litres, located in the cellars of Erdutski vinogradi.
After the tour, the day continues with the Ecumenical Church Service & Blessing of Trophies (17:45 shuttle), followed by dinner at Baranja (20:00).
