Competition Categories
The 71st World Ploughing Championship features two ploughing categories over two competition days.
Alfalfa Ploughing
4 Year Alfalfa • Depth 18–22 cm
- Depth: 18–22 cm
- Conventional plot: 20 m × 100 m
- Reversible plot: 16/24 m × 100 m
- Headland: 15 m
Alfalfa is ploughed on Day 1 of the competition. Plots are drawn the evening before.
Stubble Ploughing
Wheat Stubble
- Depth: 18–22 cm
- Conventional plot: 20 m × 100 m
- Reversible plot: 16/24 m × 100 m
- Headland: 15 m
Stubble is ploughed on Day 2 of the competition. Plots are drawn the evening before.
Soil Conditions
The competition site at Farm Mitrovac, Grabovac, features fertile loam soil developed on alluvial and loess deposits. This soil type offers good structure, moderate water-holding capacity, and is well suited for ploughing under normal moisture conditions.

Plot Sizes & Dimensions
Competition Timing
Each competitor has a total of 240 minutes (4 hours) to complete their plot, broken down as follows:
Opening Split
Competitors plough their opening split. Judges then inspect and score.
Time Out
Mandatory stop while judges inspect the opening split.
Main Ploughing
Competitors complete the remainder of their plot.

- All competitors must be present at the Marshalling Yard by 06:45
- Shuttle service departs from Campus at 06:45
